When you filter data by a specific fiscal year (or years), you may get results from additional years — this is nothing to be alarmed by! When you filter by a certain fiscal year, you’ll get a list of all awards that feature that year within their period of performance (total duration of the award). For example, if you filter by FY 2018, your results may include transactions for an award that was made in 2006, but whose period of performance ends in 2020 (2018 fits within that time range). In some cases, you may also get results that don’t, at first glance, seem to fit within the period of performance; this happens when transactions take place outside the initial period of performance (due to de-obligations on contracts, for example).
