Hi James – Thank you for your question. You can use the Advanced Search to find the data you’re looking for.  Right now, you can’t search by specific NIH institutes – may be a functionality added in the future -- so you’ll have to start with all the NIH data and drill down from there. To do that, select Fiscal Year(s) and enter NIH into the Agency filter, then click on the Time Tab to see the NIH Spending Over Time – by the year, quarter, and month.

For more granular data about specific institutes,  download the NIH data.  If you have selected “All Fiscal Years,” then you’ll probably find that the results returned are too large to be downloaded so doing two downloads with half the Fiscal Years for each could be the way to go.  You can also select an Award Type to narrow your results. To see spending patterns, you’ll want to download the Award data instead of the Transaction data. Once you’ve downloaded the data, you can sort by the NIH institutes you’re interested in to see what’s been spent for the Fiscal Years you’ve selected.
